Roger Moore spent years playing James Bond, this suave, indestructible guy who never seemed to sweat, and then he spent a good chunk of his later life as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, actually showing up in places most famous people would rather just write a check and avoid. I'm generally a little skeptical when celebrities start talking about helping poor kids, because plenty of them have never had to choose between paying the light bill and buying groceries, and it shows in how they talk about it. But Moore apparently kept doing that work for decades, long after the cameras that made him famous had mostly moved on to somebody younger. That's the part that earns my respect — not the Bond movies, honestly, but sticking with something unglamorous for that long once nobody's required you to. I raised three kids mostly on my own on paychecks that never quite stretched far enough, and I notice fast who actually follows through on the things they say matter to them versus who just says them for the photo. Moore, from everything I've read, followed through.
