Roger Federer (b. 1981)

Roger Federer has 20 Grand Slam singles titles and also somehow made an entire sport look effortless in a way that's genuinely rare, the kind of player who turns "GOAT debates" into actual, semi-serious internet arguments people will fight about in comment sections for the rest of time. I don't play tennis, my one attempt at it in college ended with a friend nearly getting a ball to the face, but I understand elegance under pressure in a general sense from doing stand-up, where the whole goal is making something that took hundreds of hours of practice look completely spontaneous in the moment. Federer's game reportedly looked like that constantly, effortless timing that was actually the result of relentless, boring repetition nobody in the audience ever sees. That's basically the entire secret of any performance-based skill, tennis or comedy or anything else: the parts that look natural are usually the most rehearsed parts of the whole thing. Federer just made twenty major championships' worth of rehearsal look like he was barely trying.
