Gloria Steinem co-founded Ms. magazine and became one of the most recognizable leaders of the American feminist movement, and here's what gets me about her story: journalists and activists don't get highlight reels the way athletes do, nobody's cutting together her greatest moments on SportsCenter, but the actual work — showing up for years, building institutions that outlast you, changing what people even believe is possible — that's the same long-game discipline I try to drill into every kid I coach. My daughter just made varsity as a freshman, and I want her growing up in a world Steinem and people like her spent decades widening, one hard, unglamorous push at a time. You don't win that kind of fight in one quarter or even one season; you win it over a career, and you mostly don't get to see the whole scoreboard yourself. That's real coaching energy if you ask me — building something for the players who come up after you, whether or not you're still on the sideline when they finally win.
