Donald Glover (b. 1983)

Donald Glover does about three different jobs well enough that any one of them would make a person notable — acting, Grammy-winning music under the name Childish Gambino, and creating the show 'Atlanta,' which I confess I've only heard about secondhand from my grandkids, television not really being my department. What I appreciate, hearing about him, is the range, because I taught third grade for 38 years and always noticed that the kids who ended up doing something unusual with their lives were rarely the ones who fit neatly into just one box in my classroom. Glover apparently doesn't fit into one either. My grandkids tell me his work is original, that he doesn't just repeat what's already popular, and there's something to be said for a person who keeps trying new things well into a successful career instead of just doing the one thing that already worked. I may not know his music, but I know staying curious when you didn't have to is a fine trait.
