Terry Bradshaw (b. 1949)

There's a particular before-and-after arc I find interesting in athletes who become broadcasters, and Terry Bradshaw is a strong example: four Super Bowl titles as a quarterback, and then a whole second act built on being just as compelling with a microphone as he was with a football. That's a harder transition than it looks, because the skills barely overlap — reading a defense in real time and reading a camera and an audience in real time are almost different disciplines entirely. I think about career "second acts" like this in visual terms sometimes, like a portfolio that has to be reshot entirely in a new medium rather than just updated. Winning four championships alone would secure most careers, but staying culturally present for decades afterward as a beloved television personality is its own separate, considerable achievement. I don't know sports history the way my husband does, but I recognize a rare kind of adaptability when I see one, and someone this durable across two completely different public roles clearly has it.
