Sophie Turner playing Sansa Stark on 'Game of Thrones' is one of those roles where the actress and the character basically grew up on screen together, over years, in front of a global audience the entire time. I have a seven-month-old now, and I find myself unable to look at anyone's 'grew up in public' story without immediately thinking about how strange it must be to have that much of your own development documented and watched by strangers before you'd even fully become yourself. That's not a criticism of the show or her performance at all, just an observation from someone currently obsessed with watching my own kid change practically overnight. There's a visual quality to that kind of long-arc role too — the character's whole look and presence shifts season over season in a way that mirrors an actual person maturing, rather than the flatter, static version most shows give a character. Turner's role rose to global fame specifically because of that arc, and I think the composition of it, watching someone actually change across years of footage, is part of why it stuck with so many people.
