Rita Moreno did the EGOT — Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony, one of the very few actual humans to pull off all four — and she didn't do it in some tidy five-year sprint, she did it over the course of an entire long career. That patience is honestly wild to me at 19, when everything I do feels like it needs to pay off by next semester or it doesn't count. My family didn't hand me any four-award-collection blueprint either; we've mostly been figuring things out one unstable paycheck at a time since my parents got here from Baghdad. But there's something reassuring about a career built in decades instead of a viral week — no cap, most of what actually lasts wasn't built to trend. Moreno's been part of American entertainment for so long she basically watched the industry's whole personality change around her and still kept working, kept being good. I like people who play the long game and still turn out to be the most interesting person in the room. That's the energy I'm chasing, eventually, hopefully, after law school.
