Okay, quick joke first: Megan Rapinoe has won more World Cups than I have finished side projects, and I have started a LOT of side projects. But real talk — winning two World Cup titles with the U.S. Women's National Team is the kind of stacked résumé that would break most people's LinkedIn formatting. What actually gets me, though, is the equal pay advocacy part. I spend an unreasonable amount of my free time evangelizing about compound interest to anyone who'll sit still, and it's easy to forget that 'get paid fairly for the exact same job' is step zero before any of that math even matters. Rapinoe didn't just win the trophy, she turned around afterward and pushed on the actual system, in public, while people were watching. That's a much harder bit to land than a joke about index funds. My comedy-writer friends give me grief for being too rosy about how these things resolve, but stories like hers are why I stay stubbornly optimistic that pushing on something big and structural can actually move it.
