Jordan Fisher has done about three careers' worth of work by the time most folks are settling into their first real job — Broadway's Hamilton, which from what my grandkids tell me is about as demanding a show as exists, and then winning Dancing with the Stars on top of that. I don't know his music the way my grandchildren do, but I do know what it looks like when somebody's actually put the hours in versus somebody who got lucky once and coasted on it, and everything about a résumé like his says hours, not luck. I had a former student, oh, must be fifteen years back now, who could sing like an angel and never did a lick of work to go with the gift, and it never went anywhere for her, which still makes me sad when I think of it. Talent's the seed. Somebody's still got to water it every single day for years before anything worth having grows up out of it. Sounds like Jordan Fisher understood that a lot younger than most people ever do.
