Ruby Rose went from Australian actress and model to international recognition through 'Orange Is the New Black,' and became known specifically as an advocate for LGBTQ+ visibility along the way, which is a heavier lift than just landing a breakout role, honestly. I think representation stuff hits me a certain way because of my own family's story — growing up as one of the only Indian kids in a lot of rooms, noticing who was and wasn't visible in the media I consumed, and how much that quietly shapes what a kid thinks is even possible for people like them. Visibility isn't just a nice bonus feature on top of a career, it actually changes what other people believe they're allowed to become. I try to keep my sincerity rationed for the stuff that actually deserves it and joke through the rest, and this lands pretty squarely in the 'actually deserves it' category. Being seen, and using that visibility deliberately instead of just accepting the fame passively, is its own kind of contribution, separate from whatever the acting résumé says on its own.
