Okay so Marcelo Bielsa is basically the football equivalent of that one professor whose class destroys you but somehow makes you better at the subject forever — his whole reputation is built on an intense, obsessive, attacking coaching philosophy that apparently influenced a whole generation of other coaches, which is wild when you think about how specific and demanding that kind of influence has to be to actually spread. I don't follow soccer super closely, ok wait, let me actually be accurate here — I follow it in bursts, mostly when something's trending, which is a very Gen Z way to half-know a sport. But the idea of someone being famous specifically for how hard they work and how much they demand from everyone around them tracks with basically every "work culture" discourse happening online right now, just applied to football decades before hashtags existed. Influencing that many other coaches means he wasn't just intense for the sake of it, there was something in the actual method that people kept stealing because it worked.
