Never heard of Enrique Bunbury before this list, which happens plenty out here — you can drive across half the country and still not catch every corner of the world's music, and I've had enough hours behind the wheel to know how big that gap really is. What strikes me about his story is the shift from fronting a band, Héroes del Silencio, to building a genuinely celebrated solo career afterward, because that's a harder transition than people give it credit for — a band gives you cover, in a way, spreads the risk and the identity around, and going solo means the whole thing rests on just you from then on. I've done something similar in my own small way, going from company driver to owner-operator, trading the safety net of somebody else's name on the truck for full responsibility, good and bad, resting on mine alone. Both choices come with real trade-offs, and I don't think either one, band or solo, company driver or owner-operator, is obviously the smarter move. Just different bets on yourself.
