Anthony Hopkins (b. 1937)

Anthony Hopkins has been acting for six decades, which by itself is the kind of career longevity most working people never get in any field, let alone one as unstable as show business. He won an Academy Award for 'The Silence of the Lambs,' which most people know, and he's also been knighted, but what I find more worth mentioning is his reputation for generosity mentoring younger performers, using whatever standing he's built over that long a career to actually help people coming up behind him rather than guard the territory. I've watched plenty of people in every kind of work get protective and stingy about their own hard-earned position once they've finally made it somewhere. It's a different kind of person who spends decades succeeding and still makes room for the next generation. Hopkins clearly did that. Six decades is a long time to stay good at something and still be generous about it.
